Deadlines for Internship Documents

Generally, students can submit all internship documents that have not yet been demonstrated, Tue - Wed 9-11 AM in the administrative office R 318.

Building Internship during Undergraduate Studies

The following documents must be submitted:

  • Original company certificate(s) (no report). The internship lasts a minimum of 120 days including Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
  • Report (about 2 DIN A 4 pages (German standard paper size); signed; stating Matr.-Nr. and address)
  • Student ID

Office Internship during Major Studies

The following documents must be submitted:

  • Office certificate(s) with seal of the Chamber of Architects = proof of membership of the supervising architect (no report). The internship last a minimum of 60 days, including Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
  • Report (about 2 DIN A 4 pages (German standard paper size); signed; stating Matr.-Nr. and address)
  • Photocopy of the diploma preliminary certificate
  • Student ID

The registration and admission procedure for the diploma thesis in winter term 2008/09 and summer term 2009 will take place as follows:

DPO 89 (old DPO)

Registration for section IV at the Central Examinations Officeim: (see dates above), Room 3.23 "Super C" (Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri: 10.00-12.30 AM, Mon from 11 AM - no registration possible on Wed!)

DPO 98 (new DPO)

Registration at the Central Examinations Office, Room 3.23 "Super C" (Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri: 10.00-12.30 AM, Mon from 11 AM - no registration possible on Wed!)

Registration for the diploma thesis winter term 2008/09 + summer term 2009 at the Central Examinations Office: (see dates above) In April and October, all achievements from the current semester are to be indicated to the Central Examinations Office (even if not registered for diploma).

Internship Regulations

Building Internship * before * Diploma Preliminary Examination

The internship lasts at least 4 months (120 days - including Saturdays, Sundays and holidays), of which preferably two months are to be completed in one company. The student should acquire practical knowledge of the professions of the bricklayer/concrete worker and/or of the carpenter and in doing so experience from the "frog perspective" how to build, work with wood and to carpenter. The internship can only be done at a craftman's business or industrial establishments within Civil Engineering .

A certificate for practical work is not required at the beginning of the studies. The internship must be completed until registration for part II of the diploma preliminary examination (please see important note below!). It is strongly recommended to complete the internship before the beginnings of the studies.

One focus of the internship work must be presented in a work report (approximately 2 pages) (sketches may be added).

Duration and type of work must be attested by the respective employers (company certificates).

Notice: The relevant internship documents must be submitted to the administrative office of the faculty before the registration for part II of the diploma preliminary examination (at latest 1 month before the official registration deadline). Those are:

Office Internship * after * Diploma Preliminary Examination

Between diploma preliminary examination * and part III of the diploma examination, an office internship of at least 2 months (60 days)+ must be successfully completed. The student should get a general overview over the work performed in architectural offices. The internship can be done in an architecture, urban planning, construction management (and municipal planning) offices. The instructing architects and urban planners must be members of the relevant architect chamber.

One focus of the internship work must be presented in a work report (approximately 2 pages).

Duration and type of work must be attested by the respective employers (office certificates incl. of membership seal of the Chamber of Architects).

* The internship can only begin after the last examination of the diploma preliminary examination has been passed. (Amendment: 28.1.1993 (Fehl/Collinet)) + including Saturdays, Sundays and holidays

Notice: The relevant internship documents must be submitted to the administrative office of the faculty before the registration for part III of the diploma examination (at the latest 1 month before the official registration deadline). Those are:
