Campus Masters November/December 2014: Architecture Prize for RWTH graduate

Nıtt fangelsi á Íslandi
11/24/2014

Helen Shuyang Chen won an Architecture Prize, awarded by Büro J. MAYER H., for her design "nyja fangelsi a islandi", a prison in Iceland.

"Helen Shuyang Chen cautiously approaches this unusual construction assignment. Inspired by examples of the Forbidden City or medieval cities a self-contained, but at the same time non-frightening, open space is created. Through this generosity and the purity of the building structures, the typology "Prison" is completely redefined", the jury explained.
