Infobox "Recycling Mies"

Infobox at the DEPOT

A meeting place and Infobox for the Social City, which can be used by all residents has arisen in front of the future DEPOT in the Talstraße

The opening of Infobox will be celebrated from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday June 3, 2015.

The Infobox was realised in accordance with plans by and as a student-construction project of students of the Faculty of Architecture, RWTH (Department of Building Typologies and Design Basics). As participants in the workshop "Recycling Mies" they created designs for small pavilions in which the building materials of the exposition "Mies 1:1 The Golfclub Project" should be recycled. In 2013 a 1:1 mock-up to a design by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe was erected in Krefeld for the duration of a year, to commemorate the long-standing collaboration between the architect and the citizens of Krefeld.
The furnishings of the Infobox continue the concept of recycling. Following an initiative of low-tec ? a charity for the promotion of employment- young refugees in collaboration with the Design agency PYG made the required furnishings from pallets.
67 square meters are distributed over 2 levels that are used by the Fachhochschule Aachen for the operation of an open 3D-printing laboratory for students and young people. Furthermore the Recycling-Mies-Pavillon is available to the district office Aachen-North for events.
"Recycling Mies" is a joint initiative of the Department of Building Typologies and Design Basics and Project MIK e.V.
