The drafts for "Aachen 2040+" are intended to show scenarios of urban quarters of the future. Scenarios are based on certain basic assumptions that set the framework for the design. The radical change in the use of urban space through a traffic turn by means of technological, social and planning transformation forms the framework for dealing with different urban areas in Aachen. Highly available SEAV (shared electric autonomous vehicles) ensure inclusive and barrier-free mobility in the neighbourhoods and complement public transport in the urban space. Parking spaces are removed in essential areas and may be dedicated to the quality of the stay, the material cycles of ecological processes in urban spaces or to post-compaction.

In M2.1 Architecture, a choice was made between two different design tasks:

- Restructuring of the entire bus station area and arrangement of the terminal station of the Regiotram from Baesweiler. Both the bus station and the so-called sound bridge can be dismantled. In addition to the mobility stations, VHS and library will also be accommodated.

- Redesign of Turmstraße as transition area from Campus Mitte to new Campus West in the area of the long tower up to the Pontturm

In M2.2, a subarea to be determined is deepened in relation to the object.
