Congratulations! The two Master's graduates Alena Cohrs and Isabel Behne have achieved excellent results with their Master's theses submitted to the Junior Professorship for Sustainable Housing Development, winning 1st place twice in the Schlaun Competition 2021/22. Under the supervision of Jun.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jan Polívka (RWTH Aachen) and Prof. Dr.-Ing. J. Alexander Schmidt (University of Duisburg-Essen), students took part in the competition in two sections. The designs of the two prize winners focused, in addition to the urban planning task, on the transformation process of the previously monostructural urban spaces into mixed-use inner-city quarters for living, working and production.
About the competition
The 10th Schlaun Competition is entitled "Trilogy for Dortmund". It deals with three formerly prosperous quarters of Dortmund, which in the future will partly be included in the regionally organized International Garden Exhibition 2027: First sub-area "Dortmund Harbor," second sub-area "the site of the former steel construction company Heinrich-August-Klönne," third sub-area "Dortmund Wholesale Market." The winners were selected from 72 entries submitted to the competition.
