Terrace House, Model Photo
The new lecture building of the University of Bonn shines in a new light between the eastern end of the gallery wing of the Electoral Palace and the former "Lenné Haus". It is located in the immediate proximity of the "Altes Zoll". Between the two existing buildings, it extends as an inviting, open terrace house towards the Rhine. On the spacious terraces, one can enjoy the view on the river and on the royal garden. Thanks to a clear and simple structure, it has flexible rooms that can be adapted to suit any occasion. Originally, an orangery of the Electoral Palace Residence was located on this property. This thematic, as well as the concept of mediation, has largely influenced the design. The orang-ery has evolved into a green terrace house with a great deal of reference to the Hanging Gardens of Semiramis. The openness that the building exudes also refers to the park, which is located on the southern side. The main entrance of the building is located there.
