The Faculty of Architecture would like to congratulate Hoda Soliman, Moritz Tücke and Leoni Wittenbecher on their top ranking in the rheform campus3 competition. This competition is organized by the architecture magazine 'Bauwelt' together with 'Rheform GmbH' as a student competition for the future-oriented structural development of universities.

Hoda Soliman, Moritz Tücke and Leoni Wittenbecher received first prize for their work on the conversion of the seminar building at Talbotplatz. The existing building from 1972 was initially marked as 'not worth preserving' in the RWTH's master plan. Instead of demolition, the proposal is to preserve its considerable architectural and ecological potential.

The robust existing structure and proximity to the Reiff provide an opportunity to further develop the Faculty of Architecture: Sporadic spaces are currently rented in the city for all teaching units that cannot be housed in the Reiff due to space constraints. The goal of the project is to unite these scattered teaching units in the current seminar building. Furthermore, permanent workplaces can be created so that all bachelor and master students can work in a suitable atmosphere, in open studios, on a semester basis. Workshops, disposal places for research, exhibition areas and a café complete the program appropriately for a contemporary living architecture faculty.

The work was created as part of the M2 project 'Structure & Character: Reiff 2.0'.
