University Professor Dr.-Ing. Daniele Santucci

Welcome! Daniele Santucci will take over the deputy professorship for Building Technology in April 2022.

'I take on the Chair of Building Technology at the Faculty of Architecture at RWTH Aachen University with deep engagement and will continue to develop my research agenda at the interface between data, climate, the built environment, and its impact on people. As an architect and scientist, I will create teaching formats together with students and researchers, committed to an approach that considers the human as the dimension of design. In my role, I will develop future-relevant questions and approaches to tackle the climate emergency, the energy transition, and the consequent social transformations. To fulfil the aspired climate neutrality in the built environment, I will focus on the adaptation of building and urban structures, their materiality and design, as well as the responsible use of natural resources. In addition to design and spatial planning tasks, the challenges of climate change will be addressed through new, radical, and creative approaches that require transdisciplinary, cross-scale, and inclusive thinking.'

Daniele Santucci is an architect and scientist working at the intersection of research, practice, and pedagogy. His research focuses on climate, urban data ecosystems, and planning, where he uses computational processes to achieve carbon neutrality and public health in the built environment at all scales. Daniele holds a PhD and a Master of Science ClimaDesign from the Technical University of Munich and a Diploma in Architecture from Romatre University in Rome. In 2017 and 2018, he was a visiting researcher at the Senseable City Lab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is co-founder of Climateflux, a company that advises planning agencies, public institutions and private companies on strategies and planning approaches for public health and comfort in urban public spaces.
